In the last few months we have supplied flame cut profiles to the worlds most intense X-ray, the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). Its based in Grenoble, France and brings together 21 partner nations to work on a state-of-the-art synchrotron which provides the international scientific community with unique opportunities for the study of materials and living matter. The ESRF functions like a super-microscope which films the position and motion of atoms in condensed and living matter, and reveals the structure of matter in all its beauty and complexity.
Supplying the project was a challenge we enjoyed taking on. The customer required traceability throughout the production process. Our ISO9001 quality management system is set up to provide this. We can supply test certificates with all our material and traceability through our production processes. For this project we also numbered each profile and the location of where it came from in each plate. You can see in the photos below that during the flame cutting process we numbered each profile and then each one was stamped.
The profiles were a mixture of 25mm and 180mm thick in s275jr material. For more information on the project please go to www.esrf.eu
