On 10th August 2023, the local conservative MP for West Bromwich – Shaun Bailey – visited Malthouse Engineering to catch up with the recent investments and significant developments that the company has made.
This was a follow up visit from Shaun, who first came to visit Malthouse Engineering in August 2022. His original visit was to see how local businesses were getting on after the struggles of covid but also the Ukraine war; with both having affected many industries massively
As part of Shaun’s visit this time, he was first shown around the inside of the factory, where multiple changes have been made. Notably, a new 100" Lumsden Grinding machine has not only expanded production capacity but also created job opportunities, emphasising Malthouse's commitment to precision engineering.
Malthouse Engineering have also introduced a pioneering clean air system and enhanced environmental sustainability with a new drainage system. Staff amenities include a modern canteen with free drinks and a 50" TV. Malthouse is also investing in the future with an apprentice scheme, initially in sales, set for rapid expansion.
Outside the factory, Malthouse Engineering has been on an ambitious expansion and modernization journey. They purchased and demolished a neighbouring building, using the space to expand stock yard facilities and accommodate the new MAN truck fleet. They've also transformed unused land into an access road, facilitating factory movement and creating room for production changes and additional staff parking. Security has been enhanced with new fencing and gates. The access road to the stockyard now features a widened path and a new concrete pad, proudly displaying the Malthouse brand.
Looking forward to the future, Malthouse Engineering is determined to continue our progress by upgradling all cutting machines, as well as office facilities and the outside appearance of the building.
As thanks to Shaun for coming out to see us last year, we ‘traced’ his hand. which we then digitised in our drawing office to send over to our machines to flame cut from 6mm thick mild steel. We gifted this hand to him at our 75th Anniversary celebration last year at the Black country living museum.
